StressEraser Pro is a well-designed, user-friendly device developed for measuring Heart Rate Variability (HRV) in conjunction with an iPhone. The application provides real-time visualization of heart rhythm, illustrating its influence on emotional regulation and stress levels, and offers guidance for stress recharging.

This HRV biofeedback tool is supported by an eight-week training program that can yield measurable improvements in resilience and self-regulation through efforts to balance the Autonomic Nervous System (ANS) via guided breathing exercises. The process of guiding resonance frequency can be analogized to pushing someone on a swing at precisely the right moment to optimize motion. The free app, StressEraser Pro, when used with an accompanying monitoring sensor available through the manufacturer’s webshop, functions as a portable heart rhythm biofeedback device.

Its relevance becomes evident in conditions characterized by autonomic dysregulation, such as acute stress, sleep disturbances, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, panic episodes, exam anxiety, performance anxiety, and ADHD. Identifying one’s individual resonant breathing rhythm—where breath and heart rhythms synchronize—is essential for restoring balance. Resonance within the breath-heart rhythm acts as a signal to the brain, specifically the amygdala, indicating a state of safety and social engagement (a concept supported by Prof. Stephen Porges). Achieving this state enhances focus, self-awareness, interpersonal connection, and cardiovascular stability.

Decades of neuroscience research into HRV affirm its value as a biomarker for autonomic function and overall health. Over 5,000 scientific publications validate HRV biofeedback as an effective method for correcting autonomic imbalance associated with stress and dysregulation. Central to this approach are resonant breathing techniques—characterized by longer exhalation and paced breathing—that promote autonomic balance. Such practices foster mental calmness, improved concentration, better sleep quality, and reduced anxiety.
